Moxibustion and acupuncture are both classic TCM physical therapies, yet they differ greatly in operating principles and core effects.

Moxibustion uses burning moxa sticks or cones to generate soft, steady thermal warmth. Held near acupoints without touching the skin, it allows gentle heat and natural herbal properties to penetrate the body slowly. This effectively boosts blood circulation, warms blocked meridians, and dispels internal cold, leaving the body calm, warm, and comfortably relaxed.

Acupuncture, by contrast, applies fine sterile silver needles to stimulate the same acupoints physically instead of using heat. It clears meridian blockages and relieves bodily stagnation, usually bringing subtle sensations of soreness, numbness, or tingling during treatment.

For acute pain, nerve tension or quick symptom relief, acupuncture is more efficient and fast-acting. For people with a cold physique, poor immunity or chronic bodily coldness, moxibustion provides a much gentler, safer and longer-lasting conditioning effect to gradually improve physical health.
